Current Enforcement Activity

Where RQIA identifies concerns about a particular service it may take enforcement action to ensure the safety, wellbeing and protection of those using the services. We may also take enforcement action where we identify non-compliance with regulations and/or standards.

RQIA publishes details of all enforcement action at adult health and social care services on this web page - current enforcement activity is detailed below.

Leabank

One improvement notice was issued to Leabank on 05 March 2018 and extended from 16 April 2018, relating to patient records.

  • Compliance is required by 24 May 2018.
NIAS - Bangor Ambulance Station

Two improvement notices were issued on 02 October 2017. Compliance was achieved against notice 2, relating to patient safety, on 31 October 2017.  Notice 1, relating to governance issues, was extended on 8 November 2017 and on 19 February 2018.    

  • Compliance is required by 16 April 2018.
NIAS - Broadway Ambulance Station (Belfast)

Two improvement notices were issued on 02 October 2017. Compliance was achieved against notice 2, relating to patient safety, on 31 October 2017.  Notice 1, relating to governance issues, was extended on 8 November 2017 and on 19 February 2018.  

  • Compliance is required by 16 April 2018.
NIAS - Craigavon Ambulance Station

Two improvement notices were issued on 19 February 2018, relating to patient safety and governance issues. Compliance was achieved against notice 2, relating to patient safety, on 27 March 2018. 

  • Compliance is required by 16 April 2018.
NIAS Trust

On 12 March 2018, DoH accepted RQIA’s recommendation to implement a special measure to strengthen governance and assurance arrangements within the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service Trust (NIAS).

RQIA has recommended the secondment into NIAS of a senior practitioner with experience in infection prevention/control and governance and assurance. This secondment should be for a period of three months in the first instance.

TW Care Services Ltd.

A failure to comply notice was issued to TW Care Services Ltd. on 28 March 2018, relating to recruitment practices and AccessNI checks.

  • Compliance is required by 07 May 2018.
